At Hallbrook, we see oracy as fundamental to being successful in the curriculum and later life. Oracy is the ability to speak and express yourself fluently. We know that as oracy improves, children improve their outcomes in reading and writing. Oracy plays a vital part in children feeling like they are successful within the curriculum. This is because it gives children the ability to participate fully in the school curriculum. 

Although Oracy is a strand of the English curriculum, it is impossible to separate it out into specific lessons and subjects. Our oracy progression is designed that it is used across all subjects as a way of delivering our children's speaking skills.
